ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun has tested for performance-enhancing drugs after winning the National League MVP award.  ESPN Outside the Lines broke the story Saturday evening indicating that Braun knew he would test positive before winning the top honor.

Braun will be disputing the result through arbitration.  No player in question has ever had this matter overturned.  If upheld, he will serve a 50-game suspension at the beginning of the 2012 season.

The former fifth overall draft pick in 2005, Braun finished his supposed MVP season with a .332 batting average, 33 home runs, 111 RBI’s, and league leading .597 slugging percentage.  That performance helped lead the Milwaukee Brewers to their first division championship since 1982.
